'The Terrible Thing That Happened to Barnaby Brocket'
We are currently reading 'The Terrible Thing That Happened to Barnaby Brocket' by John Boyne. This book tells the story of a boy who defies the laws of gravity and floats! This boy embarks on a journey and meets several people who are also different. Barnaby learns to appreciate the fact that he is unique. We cannot wait to find out what happens to Barnaby at the end of the novel! We used our sugar art as well as perspective drawing to create a scene from the novel. |

World Book Day!
We were missing a lot of people due to a Spikeball competition, but we still made the most of World Book Day!
We dressed up as our favourite book characters and discussed our favourite books! In groups, we made up our own stories and typed them on the laptops! We also designed bookmarks and alternative book covers! |

Our Novels!
In December we finished our novels.
4th class had been reading 'Nasty Neighbours' while 5th and 6th studied 'Reaching the Heights'.
All classes really enjoyed our novels, which both had very interesting characters and exciting plots.
We completed projects to summarise our novels and illustrate our favourite scene.

Debating!
During November, we studied debates and writing persuasively.
We discussed several motions, such as
'Should animals be kept in zoos?'
'Should children be allowed on Facebook?'
'Should books be replaced by laptops and technology?'
However, we decided to save the best until last! Since the main character of our Christmas Play was Donald Trump, we decided to discuss whether or not he should be given a chance as president of the USA.
Excellent points were made and great fun was had questioning the debating teams!!

The Smile Virus
Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin
When he smiled I realized
I'd passed it on to him .
I thought about that smile
then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!
