2nd, 3rd and 4th class have been keeping very busy!
Our final month was very active!
We enjoyed some summer art!
We made hang gliders!

Our last day as a full class was also Joe's birthday! We had a great day. Thank you all for a fantastic and fun year! :) :) :) :)
May was a very special month in our classroom, as our 11 2nd class children made their First Holy Communion! They worked so hard, created fantastic artwork, sang and read beautifully and did their school proud. Well done!!
We continued studying rainforests and looked at other habitats including seashore, woodland and fields. We then got a photo from one habitat and had to continue the picture using paint, water colour or plain colours.

April was a busy two weeks (Easter holidays!) full of amazing achievements!
As part of persuasive writing, we got to debate against each other!
We studied rainforests and used water colours to create these pictures!

March was a busy and important month as 2nd class prepared for their First Confession.
We performed in UL for Peace Proms!
We studied the Normans and created Norman castles!
We created shoebox solar ovens for our STEM project!
We celebrated World Book Day!
And Seachtain na Gaeilge!
And Pancake Tuesday!
AND St. Patrick's Day!
Happy St. Brigid's Day!
We studied some very inspirational people and completed history projects on some of these people, including Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela and even Walt Disney!
We also chose someone we found inspirational and used charcoal to create half portraits.

Our STEM challenge this month was to create a card game using the computer. We tested our games out on the Infants and First Class!
We had visitors in our school teaching us draughts and folk dancing from other countries!
We had a great time working together to create our TLC bottle!

Our theme this month was weather and we studied all about global warming and natural disasters.
We started gymnastics!
We started our STEM project! To link in with natural disasters, we had to create a house on stilts that could survive a flood. We worked in teams to plan, create and test out our houses!
We also tried out weaving!
We took part in the Community Games art competition. Everyone did very well!
We got into the Christmas spirit by learning about the history of the 'Late Late Toy Show'!
We studied data and money in Maths, with a Christmas twist!
We learned about Advent and 2nd Class got to teach everyone what they knew in their Advent Mass! We also had an Advent treat calendar with a fun activity or act of kindness everyday!

We started off the month with a visit from the Liam McCarthy!
Rinneamar Gaeilge 24! Bhí orainn bheith ag caint as Gaeilge ar feadh an lá ar fad! Bhaineamar taitneamh as!
Gaeilge 24 overlapped with Science Week where we did an experiment a day!
We also spoke about 'November we Remember' this month and made a prayer tree. Ruth also brought in a lovely poem about a robin for us to read.
We started Food Dudes and got to try delicious fruit and veg!
We studied the Stone Age and organised reports based on the Stone Age.
We also got to create circuits!
We compared maps and aerial photographs!
We also tried printing in art!

We had lots of fun during Space Week!
And even more fun during Maths Week!
This month we learned a lot about Mexico. We studied the Aztecs and created our own Aztec masks from clay. We then learned about Dia de los Muertos and designed our own skulls.
We were learning how Jesus was both a Teacher and a Healer in Grow in Love. We got to practise origami as part of this. We created a fox with Grow in Love and then put a Hallowe'en spin on our origami making!!
We were working on Narrative Writing. We discussed adjectives and why it's important to describe characters and settings. We each described a haunted house and a Hallowe'en character before writing our own Hallowe'en story.
We used our capacity knowledge to create some Maths Potions!
We did the 'Monster Mash' and also created our own spooky Hallowe'en music!
We completed a Hallowe'en Mystery. We were all given a character with three facts. We had to use these facts to figure out who the culprit was!

We were all excited to be back at school!
We spent September discussing friendship and created a 'Friendship Web'. We also went undercover as 'Secret Friends' and had to try figure out who our secret friend was.
We also studied the famous painting 'The Scream' by Edvard Munch. We created our own, mixing colours to create different shades.
We discussed communities this month and different types of community. We used recyclable materials to create our own communities.
We studied light in science and created our own periscopes.
We also used STEM challenges to build up our team-work skills.
