We have been enjoying listening to Muinteoir Nóirín read "A Greyhound of A Girl" by Roddy Doyle. We loved the way the four generations of the family were brought together in the modern day as well as how the past lives of the older characters were visited giving us an insight into life in rural Wexford in the early 20th century. The book is both humorous and sad. We love being read to as our teacher helps to bring the book to life for us. We were delighted to discover that the book is being turned into a film and look forward to its release. (CLICK on the image to watch the trailer)
We also enjoy reading boks from our school library as well as the monthly Primary Planet. For Hallowe'en we watched dramatisations of the witches' scene from Shakespeare's Macbeth and wrote poems where we created some pretty awful concoctions. We hope you enjoy reading them! Happy Hallowe'en! |
