We started school!
We started Senior Infants!
Our Aistear theme for September was 'Homes'.
We built houses, did drama and created houses out of lollipop sticks.

We also got to try threading and made lovely, bright houses!
We listened to the story 'The Three Little Pigs'. We did a science experiment to see which house was the strongest and we also acted out the story!
We also read the story 'The Dragon Ride'. Senior Infants had already drawn maps of the classroom which we used for a Treasure Hunt (Mikey Monkey was the treasure!). After reading the story, we worked in teams to create places such as a town, a forest and houses which we had to direct the 'Dragon' around.
We spoke a lot about ourselves and our families this month. We talked about how we are all different.
We learned about how much we have all changed and grown since we were a baby. Everyone brought in a photo of themselves when they were a baby and we took turns guessing who it might be!

We also learned how to bless ourselves and we are busy learning our prayers. We spoke about God and why we should say thanks to him. We even got to sing a song about this at our start of year school mass!
Every Thursday, we do Maths Stations to help learn maths in a fun and active way!
Thursday is also our art day. We did lots of painting in September! Here are some pictures from our first time painting this year.
We painted the BFG for Roald Dahl Day!
We also did a lot of art based on Autumn! We used pointillism to paint Autumn trees, used leaves to create a pattern and also made hedgehogs using leaves!
The children brought in lots of nature items they found. Some of these included conkers, acorns, berries and lots of leaves!!!
