Happy New Year!
We started off 2018 with self-portraits. We used mirrors to help us draw pictures of ourselves.
We explored the theme of weather in Aistear. We pretended to be weather forecasters, created weather charts and even made pin wheels!! We went outside on a windy day to test these out.
We even got to see snow this month! We created portraits of ourselves catching snowflakes.
We also got to learn about Antarctica. We spent lots of time talking about the animals in Antarctica, especially polar bears and penguins. We wrote facts about them and also created lovely art based on polar bears and penguins. We liked learning about Antarctica.
We explored waterproof materials to see what would make the best coat for our puppets.
We celebrated Catholic School Week and Grandparents' Day!
We played with money and coins.
We started gymnastics, focusing on different ways we can move. We walked like bears, crabs and caterpillars.
We also started 'Zippy's Friends'. Zippy is a stick insect who teaches us all about different feelings and what we should do when we feel these ways. We learned what to do when we are sad, angry, jealous and nervous.
