We had an amazing December in the Infant Classroom!
On Friday 1st December we found a parcel from Santa! It was our very own elf!! We thought of different names for our elf and used a graph to figure out our favourite one. We called our elf Tiny!
Everyday Tiny was in a new place. Sometimes he even brought gifts from the North Pole! We got books, bubbles and magic beans which we planted in sugar. They grew into candy canes! One day, Tiny wrapped our baskets with wrapping paper! He even had a chicken nugget party!! We will miss Tiny!
Our Aistear theme for December was Santa's workshop! We had great fun pretending to be Santa's elves!!
Our maths stations continued this month... but with a Christmas twist! We also used our graphs from last month to figure out what our favourite Christmas movie was!
We also had our Christmas Play! Our play was called 'Elves on Strike'. We practised (a lot!) and worked very hard to make the props for the show. When the day finally came, we all dressed up as elves, reindeer, narrators as well as Santa and Mrs Claus. We said our lines, sang songs and put on a great show!
In history, we spoke about toys that we play with now and toys we played with when we were younger. We spoke to our parents and grandparents about toys that they played with when they were children. We then got to bring in old and new toys to make a Toy Museum! We all loved looking at the toys. Conor brought in his grandad's spinning top and Jake brought in his granny's doll. Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who discussed toys with the children, they did a fantastic job describing the toys for us!
Garda John Hennessy paid a visit to the children to tell them all about the work of a guard. The children were so excited when they got to go in the van!!
We listened to the poem 'The Present', which shows that presents don't have to be big or expensive. They should be full of love. We made pictures for our family to show them we care for them.
We got to do a lot of fun things for our last school days of 2017! We made fake snow, reindeer food, created amazing art and even made hot chocolate!
